About This Site And Jimmy

This is Jimmy B's website. It contains some stuff about Jimmy, information on and links to things that interest Jimmy, and some mindless waffle. It is currently (OK, always) in development.

In real-life, Jimmy is 31 and until recently was working in Surrey as an Analyst at a Defence Consultancy. Currently, Jimmy is making his income through online skill-gaming and poker whilst searching for a new job. The name Jimmy B is mainly used on forums. Jimmy posted on the Betfair poker forum for some time, and is now a moderator and reporter at Entropia Forum.

Jimmy's interests include Entropia Universe, Chess, Sci-Fi, Football, Poker and Skill-Gaming, Origami, Maths, Science, building pointless websites, and talking about himself in the third person. All of this stuff should find its way to a corner (or more) of the website sooner or later.

Sadly, however, Jimmy's long black coat has seen better days. It appears to have been replaced with a brown one, which just isn't the same. I blame Whedon.

A Brief History Of Jimmy

During a cold, wintery night in 1977, Jimmy was born. This was probably the most important day of his life. For many years Jimmy did little of consequence, in fact, most of it has been lost in a sea of oblivion. Ah, how irresponsible we are when we're young. Jimmy finally sorted himself out and went to school. There he learnt how to read, write, do Maths, run away from fights and run away from girls. To this day Jimmy relies on these skills to survive.

Jimmy lived near Wigan until the age of nine and still he remains a loyal Everton fan. For various reasons Jimmy then moved to Lanzarote. After eight hard years of sunbathing, kicking footballs and playing computer games, Jimmy battled his way through some exams and escaped back to England. A fugitive in his own country, Jimmy disguised himself as a clever person for two years. Somehow the board of A-level directors and John Gittins, Keble College, fell for his ruse and so he ended up studying Maths in Oxford.

Eight years later, Jimmy finished studying for a D.Phil in Mathematics. His research areas were in Ray Theory and Perturbation Theory, with the aim to solve various partial differential eigenvalue problems. The main application of his work involved finding the natural modes and eigenvalues of variously shaped flat-panel loudspeakers, although there were other physical applications too. Jimmy also regularly taught undergraduates studying Mathematics at the University. For a short while, he held a post-doc position, developing upon work in the field of ionic surfactants. He also spent quite a bit of time in the Pub.

In recent years, Jimmy worked for the consultancy Advantage Technical Consulting (now Atkins-Advantage) in Farnham, Surrey. At home, he likes to play poker or Entropia Universe instead of watching TV. Afterwards, he likes to watch sci-fi on TV instead of sleeping.

Browser Compatibility

I tend to use IE 7.0, with Text Size set to Medium. I haven't yet made sure the site works with other browsers or settings. It does seem OK with Firefox, although some the fonts come out a little different.

I use a fairly large resolution but it should be OK with smaller resolutions.
